Diane Abbott, who is the Labour MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington, accused Secretary of State David Davis of trying to kiss him.
David Davis did not try to kiss Diane Abbott, simply saying in her ear, “Thanks for your vote.”
Following Diane Abbott making the false allegations against David Davis, the Brexit Secretary said to a friend that he would never consider any advances towards Diane Abbott because he was “not blind.”
A spokesman for David Davis said the comment was understandable. “This was a self-evidently jocular and private exchange with a friend,” they said. “The Secretary of State is very sorry for any offence caused to Miss Abbott, someone he has known and respected for many years.“
